What is Microsoft Teams?
Microsoft Teams is a communication platform that combines instant messaging, online meetings, notes, attachments and task management tools to create a seamless experience for virtual workplace collaboration.
Microsoft Teams is designed to be a hub for your company’s productivity applications. Teams is a part of Office 365 and integrates with the Microsoft Office app suite as well as Office 365’s other online services. Teams also works with third-party apps and services, so employees can access all their data and use all their tools in one place.
Chats, calls and meetings — You can send instant messages, make calls and hold online meetings with coworkers or people outside of your organization using Microsoft Teams. Teams makes it easy to share individual files (or your desktop) and take notes during calls and meetings.
Robust app integration — Microsoft Teams automatically integrates with popular Office 365 apps such as SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote, allowing you to share, edit and coauthor files within the platform. Teams syncs with your Outlook calendar and displays your online meetings and other appointments in one convenient location. Teams also integrates with more than 100 third-party services your business may use such as Salesforce, Evernote and Smartsheet.
Connect across devices — You can access Teams from virtually anywhere with an internet connection. Use the desktop or web app at work, and the mobile app when you’re on the go.
How do I get Microsoft Teams?
If you’re an Office 365 customer, you may already have Microsoft Teams. Office 365 Business Essentials and Office 365 Business Premium subscriptions come with access to Teams and all of its features for no additional cost.
To access Microsoft Teams, download the desktop or mobile app and simply log in using your Office 365 account credentials. The desktop and mobile apps are available for both Windows and Mac computers as well as iOS and Android devices, respectively. You can also access the Teams web app by logging into your Office 365 account from your browser.
